This is How We Move

Many of you who have followed this blog knew that my hubby and I moved right before Christmas (three days before Christmas day to be exact!). I had quite the system and though i know many of you may not be moving, here's the system I used.

I figure you can just
and save it for later use!

I began scouring Pinterest and found a couple great resources:

and this one was awesome!

Both of these pins really came in HANDY!
The second pin (above) was where i started my whole organization process!

I began by printing Shannon's freebie and then made a copy for each room.
We made a packet for rooms like Living/Dining Room, Closet  Bedroom, Kitchen, Office, etc. Then I labeled each packet with a certain color label to color code the whole process.

When we packed I would write down the contents of each box plus make two colored labels with the box number for each box. Each colored label also had the box number written down twice. I then placed each label on opposite corners of the box, essentially folding the label over the corner of the box. And then did it for the diagonal corner of the same box. The number of the box and colored label were visible no matter what side of the box you were looking at. I did have to use packaging tape to go over each label to prevent the labels from peeling off. In addition to this, I added a G or A to all four sides of the box near the label to tell us whether the box would be going into the garage or into the apartment. This could easily be changed to different letters like S for storage or H for house.

Overall this system worked out great and when it came time for friends to help us, they had an easier time figuring out where a box would be going. We had a ton to stuff into our garage so it saved us a few trips up two flights of stairs with heavy items.

I hope this helps you when you move and if you recently moved, i missed you this time around, i guess just pin it and save it for next time!

Back with a Vengeance

Well, here i am!
I'm back... and with a total vengeance!

I thought i would begin by updating you on my life the last couple weeks and then do a little celebrating! When all that is done, hold you horses i hope to have a Random Thursday post included! Oh my, oh my!

So hubs and I moved on the 22nd and we are in a smaller apartment that i am enjoying thus far! It may be smaller, but there are definite perks thus far.
Here are some positives: A bigger bathroom, a bigger counter space to prep food on, money saved towards a house, a large garage, a garage that is easy to pull my car into and being up on the 3rd floor, streaming television, and being much closer to a shopping center! Oh and i am within walking distance to my gym!
Negatives: being on the 3rd floor, a smaller living room, bedroom, closet, and patio, and a few other things, but i am not focused on the negative! Who wants to read about that?!?!

Regardless of the negative stuff, i am keeping my eyes focused on a house for us to purchase this summer! Here's hopin' and prayin' that we can find an orange county home in our price range!
Oh and i cannot forget to mention a huge thanks to the friends who helped us move all our stuff! You never realize how much you have until you move it all! And then you really realize how much you have when you have to drag it all up to the 3rd floor! Thanks friends! You know who you are!

Oh and i also scratched my cornea which delayed me getting back to blogging for a couple days for sure! It is healing and i am looking cute in my goggles, i mean glasses! More pics on this to come!

Next on the list....
It's this little blog's birthday!

That's right, this girl loves country!

dinner out at Mimi's with our life group was great! I know it is hard to meet every week, but truth is, every time we end another season of group, I begin to miss these people! It really is nice to meet with a bunch of people every week! Life can get too busy, but having a group like this truly helps to feel like you have a home base!

Friends and Family
These people we have in our lives have really come through for us lately. Whether it is offering to help us move, stating that they are glad we are in their lives, someone who will listen, someone who will check in with us, or even just taking the time to listen to us. They are really phenomenal people! All of them! We are so glad to have great people in out lives.

That is my High Five for the week... or the last two!
Head on over to Lauren's blog to check out other high fives!

Holiday Cheer... or not!

The weekend is over and my husband and I officially will have a roof over our heads come January! We are relieved to find a place that is cheaper that what we have now and also that is still in the same area. Which if you know Irvine, CA, you know that the words "cheaper" and "rent" don't go hand in hand! Either way we are moving!

So that means instead of a beautiful picture of a Christmas tree on this here bloggy blog, there will be none of the sort! Yep, that's right, no Christmas decorations here!
Only these sights:

I am grateful for a place but I do have to say I miss the holiday cheer spreading to my home!

A Move?

About a week or so ago i mentioned that hubs and i will be moving.
We are sure it will be local, but we are not sure where we are going yet.
This unsettles me a whole bunch! I do not like not knowing.
I am learning to trust in the Lord for I know that he will take care of us.
This is a moment where i will lean on my husband and where we together will lean on the Lord.
I write this now pretty much to remind myself of this. I know i dont normally get this religious, but if i hid my faith, what kind of Christian would i be? This is a moment where i lean heavily on the Lord.

So, with that deep though to begin this post, I thought i would share a bit of my research on MOVING! Here are my pins for and Oh How Pinteresting Wednesday!

This blogger moved and had some great tips to share!

Gonna try to have a stree free move! Does that exist?

And here's some pins for me to dream about ...

And one last reminder for myself:

Oh and BTW, at the end of this next home, we will find a more permanent home. We are looking to buy a home! Oh wow! What a journey this will be!
