Misc. Roses

This week at my job I had one moment that nearly brought me to tears right in front of my little cherub! Let me preface this little story with the fact that this little guy had trouble even counting when he first began in my classroom. Well on Thursday last week I sat down with this little guy to work with him on some work he needed to make up and knew from the get go hat it would be a little challenging for him. Anyway, he has been learning numbers using tens and ones blocks. He was practicing counting the tens and ones for each problem and then identifying/writing the number for a given well the conversation that ensued during my one on one instruction with him was awesome. Basically at one point I was praising this young man for all he had done and learned. He responded with "really!?!" He didn't think I noticed his hard work. I then told him I was super proud of him and again his response was "really!?!" again he was shocked that I was proud of the work he had done! I forget his words exactly at this point but he basically said he was proud of himself and that he liked being at school! You have no idea the appreciation I had for my job at that moment. Without this work that I get to do each day with these kiddos, I would not get to have moments like this. Moments where I have changed a child. Moments where a child has learned something! How could I not appreciate my position as a teacher! So that is my task this week to stop and smell the roses with Jessica @ lovely little things!

Lovely Little Things

I have some other random things that I wanted to share as well!

1. Today I learned that I cannot wear my pants without a belt! I spent a trip to the grocery store pulling up my pants the whole time! That was not fun!

2. Hubs and I had the opportunity to head to another baseball game. It was awesome! We got there before the first pitch and got to see cows, a milking contest and Nolan Ryan was honored as well! Oh an then, the Angels won the game! It was a phenomenal night! The night was even capped off with fireworks! BTW the angel player won the milking contest too!

3 . There are only 8 school days left of the school year. Then I get a whole two days off and then back to for a six week summer school session! No rest for the weary!

4. A trip to Disneyland last weekend totally warmed my heart. We had been meaning to see one of the shows for ages and finally we had time to catch the "Billy Hill and the Hillbillies" show! It was too fun! There was country, rap, humor, and toe tapping fun!

Well there it is a list of my miscellany! Hope you enjoyed the shots I took!
I am also linking up with lowercase letter for Miscellany Monday! Go check out the other link ups!

Time for a HIGH Five!

Baseball with the hubs ... sooooooo fun!
We saw a great game on Wednesday and then went to see another game with friends on Friday!
(This is the reason why i am posting so late!) Here's a couple shots from both games!

Four words: I.Got.A.Massage.
Enough said!

Hubs surprised me with a trip to a new spot. Taco Surf = YUM!

Wonderful Wednesday... meaning my kids did not visit our "time out room." This was AMAZING! It definitely proves that hard work is paying off! After several months of struggling and dealing with some pretty tough behaviors, we finally saw some of our diligence pay off! The kids did great and were justly rewarded with Otter Pops and a few extra minutes of playground time!
(They all love the new playground, BTW)

Posting about Chuck. It really meant a lot to share with you all.
It also meant a whole bunch that his wife thanked me for my words.
Then she even shared the link to my blog with others!
Love that lady BUNCHES!

There's my high five!

Arizona Trip in Review!

Our trip to Arizona was pretty fun, relaxing and entertaining!
Every year my husband and I head to Arizona as a birthday treat! My husband and I have birthdays 11 days apart. For the record, yes I am the older one!

So, our ride out was good. It only took us about five hours and I spent the entire time reading with the iPad on my lap. What was I reading? ....
why BLOGS of course!

By the time we got into the Phoenix area we were starved and hubs had a chance to try out Five Guys for the first time! He loved it and even asked to go there again the next day, but alas we tried other non-CA places instead. (We have spots we go to every time we are in AZ!) Our first day then consisted of exploring the hotel grounds, resting and then ordering room service! (We had a scrumptious cheese plate with a bottle of wine that we had bought in Paso Robles!)
Here I am in the hotel gift shop... trying on hats!

On Friday morning, we woke up and headed over to US Egg. Both of us have eaten here before and enjoyed that there was no line! It was nice to sit down, eat and then head out! After a good meal we headed to the Dodgers v. Rangers game in Surprise, AZ. This field was nice. I liked that there was ample parking and no parking fees! (Not sure if this was cause it was a Friday!) Anyway, we enjoyed the game and especially enjoyed our seats! We were in the third row behind the on deck circle for the Dodgers. We had a great view of when players taking warm up swings and also to hear what they had to say. (Matt Kemp mentioned that a call took forever!) Don Mattingly and Joe Torre were right there too!!! So cool!

After the game we headed to SUPER Target! This was a fun place to explore! After that we headed to our massages! This was a special treat provided my hubs' boss. They actually called up the hotel and gifted us with spa treatments! AWESOME!

After all the relaxing it was time to head to a late dinner at Four Peaks! We love this place! I always order an Arizona Peach and enjoy every last drop! Hubs always wants pizza, and so pizza he got! We shared it and loved every bite! I wish that they distributed their beers to CA! Maybe someday!
My Arizona Peach! Yum!
After dinner it was back to the hotel... we relaxed and watched TV! It was great to just get away and relax!

There's more to share.... but that's more for tomorrow!

Arizona Bound

In a week....

  • It will be the day after my birthday.
  • I will be 32 years young or old depending on how you see it. I think i am still young!
  • I will have had a great weekend with the Hubs in Arizona
  • I will be hoping that the hours will be longer rather than shorter so that work will not come so fast!
  • I will be joyous cause i will have seen the Angels play a great game on my birthday! I may even get to see Albert Pujols warm up! Oh boy! (There are other players i hope to see but i think the newly acquired player will just amp up my excitement for the season!)
  • I will have spent at least 10-12 hours total in the new car.... hopefully i will get to drive it a little. We will see!
  • I will be completely relaxed as we plan to sit by the pool on one of those days!

Basically, this is me keeping my eye on the prize. This week i took off Thursday and Friday and M-W will be a busy and hectic week trying to get all prepped and ready to go! Gotta make sure the plans are all set for the sub and my aides! Oh and I probably should straighten my desk for my guest.

This will be our weekend get away to celebrate both of our birthdays. We do this every year and I cannot wait every year! The anticipation is killing me already! Anyway, i hope you all have a great work week.... as for me my behind will be in Arizona on Thursday! Don't work too hard!
