Sunday Social: Deep Thoughts Edition

I am late to this game a bit today, despite having had this post written last night!
How come it always seems like Sunday FLIES by!!!!

This week forSunday Social the theme is:
Deep Thoughts
with Ashley and Neely

Sunday Social
1. What do you value most in life?
Geez, this is difficult to answer. If I really had to sit down and really decide it would have to be relationships. My reason behind this is because it can encompass so many aspects of my life. I value my relationship with my husband, family, friendships, and above all my faith in the Lord.

2. What do you think is the greatest invention in your lifetime and why?
I asked hubs on this one and he immediately responded with "power" but then I changed the stipulation to be something within our lifetime. We were both born in 1980 and after a little debate, we both agree that the iPad is the greatest invention of our time. Not sure I have to explain this much!

3. What do you think is the secret to a good life?
I think the secret to a good life is gratefulness  Without the perspective of being grateful for the things you have in life, now matter how big or small, a person could become bitter, jaded, and full of hate and frustration! With gratefulness a person can focus on the positive which then creates more positive emotions! I choose gratefulness!

4. What would you most like to be remembered for when you’re gone?
I would like to be remembered for being a great teacher! Not just to my students but also to my children! It really is such a blessing in life to see children learn and it really is amazing to see a child "get it" after struggling for a bit! It is heartwarming and especially rewarding to think you may have played even the smallest role in helping a child to learn!

5. What accomplishment in your life are you most proud of?
So far, I am most proud of three things:
  • My marriage. Marriage is hard work and I feel my husband and I have done a great job! I still love him and he still loves me. We just keep working to keep that going. It is one of my best accomplishments thus far in life and i hope to continue to keep it that way!
  • My education. I have worked extremely hard to be educated and put it to good use. My college experience was a definite time of GREAT amounts of learning for me!
  • Teaching. See question above.

 6. If a movie was made about your life, who would you want to play you?
I would cast Emma Stone to play Simone! She is super talented and I think she may even make my life look that much more dramatic and entertaining.

Hope you all have a great Sunday!

Sunday Socialite 9.16.12

If you haven't been over to visit the link up please just click the button below!

Sunday Social

Here are this weeks questions:

1. 5 items you can't live without on a daily basis(water, food, shelter, and clothes don't count)

OK I have a few of these items and one of them happens to be a pair of shoes...
That's right... my rainbows! Love these flip flops! I have a really hard time wearing anything else when i am not at work! Have you ever owned a pair? They Last forever and conform to your foot! Love em!

Another item I love is my iPad and iPhone. I am counting these as one cause they both serve the same purpose. I basically use them for the same reasons. The phone only has the added capabilities of using it as a phone!
Another item i cannot live without would be my pens!
Every year i buy pens to do all my lesson planning with. I am particular about these pens and i even refuse to leave them out in my classroom. I am terrified that they will walk away! I need a good pen to write and that is plain and simple. These are my favorite:

Ok next up: On the Go Tea and Lemonade packets! Oh and Mio too!
I fill two bottles each morning and then refill them both as the day progresses!
Here are some shots of what I use to add to my water! They are low-cal or no-cal and contain no sugar!

I also love these bottles:

I think that's five!?!

2. All time favorite book? Why?

Gosh i have three of these:
The Secret Life of Bees by Sue Monk Kidd

A Prayer for Owen Meany by John Irving

& last, but not least,
The Help by Kathryn Stockett
All three of these books have enthralling stories of women surviving! I also love the era that they were set in! The movies do a little justice, but not enough to ignore reading these beauties! Loved reading them all! And A prayer for Owen Meany was a class assignment in high school! (I have since read several of John Irving's book and love them!) I hope Kathrynn Stockett writes another and really think that The Secret Life of Bees is a book that would be tough to beat by any author! Love these books!

3. Something you'd like to accomplish before the end of 2012

My hubs and i have been really working to pay off debt and save up for a house. I would really like to have accomplished saving a good chuck of change by the years end!

4. If you could go back and relive any year of your life which year would it be?

The year that we got married was tough, stressful, and filled with such wonderful memories. I would easily do it again just to relive the day i married my dear hubs! I would love to enjoy those moments with friends and family a little bit more too! So, my answer is the year 2010!

5. What do you wish people knew about you without you having to tell them?

Often times, people seem to view me as this person who is very straight laced. I wish sometimes people would see how much i love to have fun! Yes, I am a Christian who (from what i gather) people see me as SUPER devoted, and I am, but that doesn't mean a girl can't have a little fun! In addition to this, i make mistakes. A LOT of mistakes.

OK, hope your Sunday is going well!
Don't forget to enter the giveaway i have going on! You could win a great custom wreath and a cute little car trash can! Plus other stuff and some surprises too!

This Side of the Blog World

Wow! What a weekend! Hence the late post and link up to the Sunday Social! Hope you enjoy! Today's topic is about this little blog and all that blogging has taught me!

1. What is the name of your blog and how did you come up with it??

Whelp, this blog is called Busy as Honey Bee. I named it that because life is often so full of being busy as a honey bee! Life often feels so busy and this blog is a way for me to show the busyness of my life. It is a place for me to be crafty, learn, explore and grow! An added little tidbit (brace yourself for the cheesiness of this) my husband calls me is honey bee!

2. What do you love the most about blogging??

The best part about blogging is for sur the community! I hav learned so much and feel as though I have also contributed so much too! I am really looking forward to what this blog brings to others an to myself! The friendships aren't even the Hal of it but sur ad th icing on the cake! I can't wait to make more blogger friends IRL!

3. What are your 2 favorite posts you've written?

I would have to say this one and this one! The first link is a post where I shared about my friend Chuck and the second link is about how i met my beau

4. What is something you'd want to tell someone just starting out in blog world?

I would tell anyone starting out in the blogging world to make sure you do this blogging thing for yourself and not for the numbers! It can be super rewarding and encouraging to see the numbers go up, but make sure that it's something you enjoy an not something that becomes a chore!

5. Biggest blogging learning experience you've had?

Gosh! Not sure I have have one of these yet. It might be that I forgot to mention where I got certain pictures from! Learned my lesson and truly felt that person was so gracious and understanding! I think I have also learned too that friends and followers come from places where you would least expect it! Ohhhh and I have learned that everyone has a different style! It's best to learn form the style of others rather than feeling that you are lacking or less!

6. Give us 3 blogs we NEED to be following that you love.

Ok so here ar a few blogs that have really hit home with me:
Trial by Sapphire (This girl has inspired such a positive attitude in me! Love hr blog! So creative and well said!)
Pray for Ian (Love how this girl loves the Lord and how she serves her hubby everyday!)
&
Eat Yourself Skinny (This is a new one for me!)

Stay tuned for my 100 follower giveaway this week (Wednesday!!!)
& a fun weekend in review post tomorrow!

Oh the Internet!

Ok! like i said I am switching up my schedule! Still gonna stick to some of the same link ups but will be adding a few and alternating some of the link ups i do! Just trying to add a little spice!

So, today I am linking up with Neely and Amanda for the Sunday Social!

1. What is the first website you log on to everyday?

Um I think it would be blogger. I usually check my dashboard every morning and then again when I post in the evening.

2. Give us some funny websites you visit that we need to know about

Goodness. I think I would benefit from what people post in response to this question! I don't currently visit any really funny websites but I used to go on Urban Dictionary to look at funny sayings. The only one really remember is cruiser spooning! Do you know what that is? It's when two police cruisers pull up next to each other so the drivers can chat about life and donuts! (For the record: I believe that police officers and other public safety officers play a vital role in keeping our communities safe and peaceful!) ok that's enough of me making up answers!

3. Pinterest or Facebook? Why?

Why does it have to be one or the other! I TOTALLY participate in BOTH! Hi! My name is Simone and I am a pinterest and Facebook addict! I love them both for different reasons for sure though! On one I get so many creative ideas from all over and on the other I satisfy my nosy factor! Why would I ever chose between those two things?!?!

Don't forget to follow me on both!

Follow Me on Pinterest

4. Twitter or Instagram? Why?

I am very new to twitter. Not sure I like it for my own personal use. I do use it for my blog, but I admit I feel very overwhelmed with keeping up with my twitter feed! In addition to this I sporadically use the instagram app on my phone! I enjoy both but I think I pick twitter just because I have tended to use it more as of late! I enjoy looking at pictures that others are taking so instagram is still on the list! Follow me here!

5. Favorite youtube video...post it!

Oh goodness there are a couple ..... Here they are!
This is just pure entertainment and i love the song. I know super trendy and all, but it sure does cheer me up (if cheering up is needed!)

Kids are awesome! I love too how the mom just can't keep a straight face! So funny!

Ok, so i am sick of the song but i think these people are all phenonmenal! Love this video!

6. Biggest online pet peeve?

From one blogger tools sibyl others... Those darn word verification things drive me batty! The other day I had to do one thirty times before I was able to post a comment... Ok so it wasn't thirty, it was more like three, but still after three if it doesn't work ... You won't get a comment from me unless I am truly REALLY DETERMINED to post it!

Alright.... hope u enjoyed my comments!
Yesterday's post was not on time, so sorry! It has been quite a week and i may or may not have TOTALLY fell asleep on the couch at like 10 pm while watching a movie! Either way, there was a post! Check it out! I got some new duds!

Sunday Social: Travel

Linking up today with Neely over @ A Complete Waste of Make Up! This is definitely a post that is not helping my excitement to vacation! I am so excited to create more memories in Alaska, Seattle and Canada! I love to travel and this week's Sunday Social is all about the traveling!
Sunday Social

Enjoy a little bit of a few of the trips i have taken!

Best trip I've Ever Been On

Well, there are a couple trips that i have loved immensely! They are:
1. My Honeymoon with my hubs, of course, to Hawaii. We went to Maui and Oahu for about 9 days and loved every minute of the trip! We traveled, explored, swam, sat on the beach, ran in the rain, searched for banana bread and ate a bunch!  We used the book Maui Revealed to help us along on our trip If you ever go to Maui, please buy this book! It will help out a bunch!
Here's a few shots from that trip:

2. The other trip i loved was a family trip to see my younger sister in 2009. My Mom and I went to visit my younger sister and her boyfriend who live in London! We had so much fun exploring and not trying to fit it all in. Rather, we had a relaxing trip that was filled with many new sights and experiences!
Here are some things you could see:
Stonehenge

The London Eye

Parliament and Big Ben

A day at the races!

Parliament Gardens

Best Idea for a Girls Weekend

This would be another one with two answers!
Loved Visiting Santa Barbara with the girls for a Bachelorette party! We had a great time on a wine tasting tour through the city and enjoyed a night on the town! It was a fun weekend!

I also loved Palm Springs!
This was my own Bachelorette party and it was a fun day of sitting by the pool and relaxing with a drink in hand!

A little Mexican food to begin the weekend! Complete with a mariachi band to serenade you!
The Palm Springs Aerial Tramway gives great views!
Especially from the top!
This is my little sis and me BTW!
Of course you gotta find a great group of girls to take with you! Love all these gals!

Best Idea for a Couples Trip

If this means a trip with other couples ... I would love to go to Paso Robles again! We did this exactly one year ago today and it was such a blast! (Happy Birthday Jami!) This was a weekend filled with fun, friends, hiking in a vineyard (not recommended), yummy food and wine!

If this means just a weekend to get away as a couple .... then i would never turn down a weekend with the hubs in San Diego! I love that city and as i have said before, it holds a lot of special memories for us!

Best Vacation on the Cheap

My best idea of a vacation on the cheap would be a camping trip! My hubs and i have not camped together but would love to head out and just camp for a weekend! There are some local parks and beach camps here in So Cal and that would be really inexpensive! It would be nice ot have a weekend to hike, cook by the campfire, play some games, and relax!

Place You most Want to Visit

With my trip to Alaska fast approaching, my excitement is GROWING! But because i know that is a dream that will be realized pretty soon... after that my craving is to visit Europe again! I would love to go to London, Germany, and Italy with hubs! It would be so much fun!

Vacation/Travel Necessities

I just did a guest post about this! Along with those things, I will be packing my iPad and a couple books. For now, this is the book that I will have in tow on our cruise! I will also be reading digital versions of the Real Simple Magazine! <3 Along with the reading material, I will not leave behind my flip flops! Love those rainbows!

What do you like to pack? What can you not leave without?
Where have you been?
