The Salmon Capital of the World

Hi there!
OK, so I'm a little bit late, but this is my Saturday post! It's also the final post about our recent vacation! We've been back for two weeks now and i find myself still trying to get bac into the swing of things!

My last post included our stop in Skagway and then our scenic cruising in Tracy's Arm. Check out that post here but don't forget to find the Seattle post and the first leg of our cruise

Onto the last leg of our trip....

In Ketchikan we had a very sort amount of time, but had a Duck Tour scheduled and waiting for us!
I was pretty excited and thought we might see more of the natural surroundings on the water, but that was not the case! Oh well, it gave us a great tour around the city and we learned a bit about the area too! Here are some shots of the few hours we spent there:

WE even saw salmon trying to swim upstream! Afterall, Ketchikan is the Salmon Capital of the World!
They built a salmon ladder to help the fish fight the current.
Becasue the current looks like this!

And less like this:

Here we are ready to make our way down Creek Street but purely for tourist reasons.
A shot of what Creek Street looks like. These historical and adorable looking buildings once housed less than wholesome activities. (Yes, they were brothels!)
We then walked around and came across a rescue group that had this beauty on display!

Then it was back on the ship and we headed to Victoria! We arrived the next evening and immediately got on a bus to head to the Butchart Gardens. Here we are on the bus on our way!
And then some shots of the amazing garden that just had us floored and snapping off pictures like none other!
 Look how pretty!
And here is the same garden at night.
Another spot in the garden that overlooks the water! The sunset and colors here were astonishing! It made me want a nice big talk glass of lemonade and a lounge chair!
And then back to the ship, but not before getting a stamp in our passports and a quick shot with the Canadian flag!

The next day we found ourselves back in Seattle and we headed back to Sea-Tac Airport! We had such a great time and really truly recommend the trip to Alaska! My husband and I feel so blessed to have gotten to experience this trip! What amazing creation there is to see!

I hope you enjoyed a peek into our trip photos!

Majestic

It's time for another vacation post!
I swear there's only a few more! I know some of you are enjoying these posts but others might be a bit bored! So sorry! Gotta share all the adventures we went on!

So after a trip to Juneau, our boat headed off to Skagway.
This town is rooted in the gold rush in the late 1890s! It is so neat to hear stories of that time and it feels as though you stepped back into history! Loved visiting this place and learning about the spot! Also the food at Skagway Brewing Co. was pretty delicious! We also got the chance ot try Spruce Tip Ale! This was my favorite taste of the whole trip!

We then took a bus tour that took us to the cemetary and learned about local legends!

The bus then drove us to a look out point where we could see the entire town of Skagway!

The next day was followed by scenic cruising into Tracy Arm Fjord. I did not realize how much this would amaze me! I was not terribly excited about glaciers until i saw one! And then i saw a second and tears welled up in my eyes! It was pretty amazing to see the beauty of the fjord and then to have a cherry on top... a glacier that literally made me cry! I felt the beauty and the amazement i had for God's creation just had me speechless! I swear i said "WOW!" a million times!

Then it was off to our next spot: Ketchikan!
My next and last vacation post will be Saturday!

All Aboard to Juneau!

Ok ... sorry this post is a touch late but i decided to enjoy my weekend a bit instead of being in front of the computer all the time!

So as promised here is my second vacation post!

Last time I mentioned my vacay with hubs, we were still in Seattle!
This post will cover the day we left Seattle and then headed north for Juneau!

We decided to get in one last tourist spot before we left and headed to the Klondike Gold Rush Museum! This was a cool spot and a definite must see for those that are headed to Alaska!

Then it was time to set sail....

My first view of our cruise ship!

The view of Seattle from our cruise ship!

We set sail on Saturday afternoon and then had all day Sunday at sea.

Sunday night was our 1st formal night! It was so fun to go dance the night away!

In the morning we woke up to this outside our window:
What a sight!

We at breakfast on our balcony and headed off to our Bike and Brew tour of Juneau!

We biked nine miles to the Mendenhall Glacier!

This is about half way through the bike ride... oh and what is that right behind us.... oh um just a GLACIER!!!! Holy cow, it was soooo stinkin cool!

So after our beer tasting we headed to The Red Dog Saloon which was a great bar with wood shavings on the floor and a total country feel!

Next up, fresh fish and chips! I may or may not have gobbled up every last bite of this basket while we watch sea planes landing and pouring down rain!

Then it was back to the boat of us! This was truly a fun day! Great memories for hubs and I!

So sorry for the picture overload! I couldn't help but share! I hope u enjoyed!
Next Vacay post will be on Thursday!
